Oct. 17: A mass for the elders in Velankanni Ward was organized on Tuesday 12th October 2010 at 9.30 a..m. in the house of Mr. Alwyn D’Souza at Vishal Nagar Moodbidri. Mrs. Avita D’Souza and their daughter Anisha D’Souza welcomed the guests. Ward Gurkar Mrs. Mabel Sequeira organized the arrangement for the mass.
Six elders of ward were present. They were Mrs. Rita Lewis, Stella Lewis, Mr. Paul Santmayor, Mrs. Theresa Santmayor, Mr. Joseph Pereira and Mrs. Kosses Pinto.
About 40 members were present including Sr. Felcita and Sr. Priya from St. Mary’s Convent of the ward.
The Mass was offered by Parish Priest V. Rev. Fr. Austin Peres. He said that he is very to come and offer masses in the houses for the parishioners who are unable to make it to the church. We provide communion every now and then but the opportunity to offer mass is generous blessing of the Holy church to us. Let us take opportunity and make the elders share in the Holy Sacrifice whenever possible.
The word of God for the day was “Cleanliness”. We are more worried of the cleanliness of our body and forget the cleanliness of our heart and mind. We can show others that we are clean or we are great by our outer show and actions but God knows our true cleanliness. We cannot fool God. So let us make ourselves clean of heart, mind and conscience and welcome God. We need not go looking for God but make ourselves clean to welcome to God. He wants to come to us. Jesus went on curing the sick and forgiving the sinners and He will also do the same to us. So let us become clean of heart and welcome Jesus.
After the mass cold drink and snacks were given to all present and Gurkar Mrs Mabel thanked Fr. Austin for offering the mass.
