ST. JOHN HAS BEAUTIFUL INTERPLAY BETWEEN HALF KNOWLEDGE AND FULL KNOWLEDGE; HUMAN AND DIVINE KNOWLEDGE;
ACTUAL FACTS AND PERCEIVED TO BE TRUE FACTS ETC.
TAKE FOR EXAMPLE IN TODAY'S GOSPEL, THE PHARISEES WHO CLAIM TO KNOW EVERYTHING THINK JESUS IS FROM GALILEE, WHILE ACTUALLY HE WAS BORN IN BETHLEHEM.
JOHN HAS MANY SUCH INTERPLAYS IN HIS GOSPEL.
THEREFORE, LATER ST. PAUL IN HIS FIRST LETTER TO CORINTHIANS, CHAPTER 13, STATES THAT OUR PROPHESIES AND KNOWLEDGE IS LIMITED OR ONLY PARTIAL...... ONLY THREE THINGS LAST; FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE. AND OF THE THREE LOVE ALONE IS SUPREME.
THE MESSAGE IS EVIDENT.
IT IS BY LOVE ALONE WE CAN FATHOM DIVINE TRUTH AND SALVATION AND NOT BY ' KNOWLEDGE '
IN THE FIRST READING WE HAVE THE EXAMPLE OF PROPHET JEREMIAH FACING BOLDLY THE EVIL SCHEMES AND TAKING HIS 'CASE ' TO GOD ALMIGHTY WHO IS THE ONLY JUST JUDGE.
