READINGS:
1 R : Ex 32 : 7 - 14.
Ps 105 : 19 - 20, 21 - 22, 23.
Gos : Jn 5 : 31 - 47.
FROM TODAY'S READINGS LET US TAKE A FEW POINTS FOR OUR CONSIDERATION AND REFLECTION.
1. EVERY DOCUMENT TO BE LEGAL REQUIRES TO HAVE TWO WITNESSES. THIS IS TRUE FROM THE DOCUMENT OF ENGAGEMENT TO THE MOST COMPLICATED AGREEMENTS.
JESUS IN FACT CITES THREE WITNESSES.
A. JOHN THE BAPTIZER.
B. HEAVENLY FATHER.
C. THE ' WORKS ' AND THE ' SIGNS '.
AND JESUS THEN AS WELL NOW ASKS US AS TO WHY WE ARE NOT READY TO ACCEPT HIS TRUTHS INSPITE OF THE LEGALLY VALID WITNESSES ?
2. JESUS ACCUSES THE JEWS THAT THEY ARE ONLY READY TO ACCEPT PERSONS IF THEY ' COME ON THEIR OWN ' AND WAIT ON THE ESTEEM GRANTED BY MEN AND NOT BY GOD.
IS IT TRUE ONLY FOR THEM ??
I DO NOT THINK SO.
WE TOO VALUE ONLY HUMAN ESTEEM AND REJECT DIVINE SALVATION.
3. JESUS IS THE SECOND MOSES, INTERCEDING WITH THE FATHER.
ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS AND THEOLOGICAL TITLE FOR JESUS IS ' MEDIATOR ' OR INTERCESSOR.
MOSES INSPITE OF THE ' GRAVEST ' SIN OF ISRAEL, i. e. GOLDEN CALF PLEADS FOR MERCY.
JESUS , EVEN ON THE CROSS PRAYS FOR THOSE WHO CRUCIFIED HIM.
THIS IS THE TRUE IDEAL FOR ALL. ( AND NOT AT PABBAS OR ELSEWHERE. )
