ಉಪ್ರಾಂತ್ ಕೊಯೆರ್ ಪಂಗಡ್ ಅನಿಂ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಸಂಘಟನಾ ಮಾರಿಪಾತ್, ಪದಾಂ ಸವೆಂ ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ್‌ ನಾಚ್ ಆಸಾ ಕೆಲೊ. ವಿಗಾರ್ ಬಾಪಾನಿಂ ಜೆವ್ಣಾಚೆರ್ ಆಶೀರ್ವಚನ್ ಕರುನ್, ಮಾನೇಸ್ತ್ ಹೆರಿ ರೇಗೊನ್‌ ಹಾಜರ್ ಅಸ್ಲೆಲ್ಯಾ ಸರ್ವಾಂಕ್ ಜೆವ್ಣಾಕ್ ಉದಾಕ್ ದಿಲೆಂ. ಸುಮಾರ್ 200 ಜಣ್ ಹಾಜರ್ ಆಸ್ ಲ್ಲೆ.

Traditional Vegetarian Food Festival at Corpus Christi Church, Moodbidri

The Corpus Christi Church, in collaboration with the Catholic Sabha Moodbidri unit, organized a delightful Traditional Vegetarian Food Festival on July 30, 2023, at 12 noon. The event aimed to showcase the rich Konkani food culture of our ancestors, with a special focus on rainy seasonal delicacies.

The festival received immense support from 16 associations affiliated with Corpus Christi Church. The program commenced with an invocation of God's blessings through a melodious hymn performed by the choir group and women's cell.

V. Rev. Fr. Onil Dsouza, the Vicar Forane and Spiritual Director of Corpus Christi Church, presided over the function. The event featured esteemed guests, including resource person Mrs. Renita Dsouza, counselor of Alvas Education Foundation, Mr. Vincent Dsouza (Vice President), Mr. Norbert Martis (Secretary), Mrs. Celine Dsouza (21 Commission Convenor), Mr. Harry Rego (Catholic Sabha Moodbidri Unit President), Mr. Ronald Serrao (Catholic Sabha Moodbidri Unit Secretary), Sr. Evelyn Marie of Carmel Convent Moodbidri, and presidents of all associations affiliated with Corpus Christi Church.

Mrs. Renita Dsouza, the resource person, shed light on the health benefits of consuming natural and seasonal food as practiced by our ancestors. She emphasized the adverse effects of modern fast food culture and food advertisements on the present generation's health. Adopting traditional seasonal food and recipes, she asserted, could strengthen the immune system and promote a healthy life.

During the event, YCS (Young Catholic Students) representatives, Rolan Lobo and Lonisha Cutinha, took the opportunity to raise awareness about the environmental hazards caused by plastic usage. They urged everyone to keep their surroundings clean and free from plastic waste.

In his presidential speech, Rev. Fr. Onil Dsouza shared insights on how God's natural food resources contribute to our well-being and happiness. He also emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about the adverse effects of plastic on the environment.

Mr. Ronald Serrao extended his gratitude to all individuals who contributed to the success of the event.

Following the stage program, the choir group and women's cell collaborated to showcase traditional recipes and vegetables through an enthralling stage show.

Rev. Fr. Onil Dsouza blessed the sumptuous food prepared by the 16 associations, adding a divine touch to the culinary experience.

Mr. Harry Rego extended a warm and traditional welcome to all attendees by offering water, exemplifying the spirit of hospitality.

The event was gracefully compered by Mr. Aldrin Fernandes. In the event, Mr. Clifford D'Costa introduced the resource person.
