Carmel Ward celebrated their Annual Day “ Vado Fest” on Sunday 26th July, 2015 from 12.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. at “Angel Abode” – the residence of Wilfred & Lavina D’Souza in Koppala, Carmel Ward. All ward families, all ward gurkars, Sisters of Carmel and Morning Star convent, VP, Secretary and Parish Priest V. Rev. Fr. Austin Peres were invited. 20 Carmel ward family members, Sisters of both convents, 9 ward Gurkars/Representatives, VP, Secretary and Fr. Austin Peres attended the function. This is a new house in Carmel Ward. They were residing in Pompei Ward before and so families of Pompei ward and friends were also invited .
Function started with monthly “ Vadya Jamath” followed by honouring Mother Mary of Carmel with flowers while singing "ಆಂಕ್ವಾರಿ ಭಿತರಿ ಸೊಭಾಗಿಣಿ". Family members came together and offered flowers.
The guests invited were honoured with a rose followed by welcome dance. Two new families, Wilfred Lavina D’Souza & Mark Roshni Mendonca were welcomed to Carmel Ward. Cultural program followed which included, dance by children and two comedy skits by adults. Games were carried out in between and prizes were distributed. Rev. Fr. Austin Peres addressed the gathering and explained the importance of SCC and benefit of attending the monthly Jamath for an hour of our time. Gurkar announced that Carmel Ward will collect annual fee of Rs. 300/= which started from this year to help the needy and services in the ward. Sponsors for “Yearly Vado Fest” are always welcome.
Ward Gurkar thanked all those who came, Wilfred & Lavina for sponsoring & providing food and those helped in making the function grand and successful.
