Sept. 08: Corpus Christi Church Moodbidri celebrated the feast of the birth of Mother Mary with great pomp. The parishioners gathered with flowers and new rice near the Nawami complex in Moodbidri city at 7.30 a.m. Feast message was read in Kannada and the new rice was blessed. Procession started from there to church with children carrying flowers in baskets, plates and trays and people in their hands. Keeping in mind the environ cleanliness flowers were not thrown during the procession on the road but the flowers were showered on infant Mary on the church ground.
The mass was celebrated by parish priest V.Rev. Fr. Austen Peres with church full of people. The singing of hymns by four voices choir lead by Mr. Alwyn Lobo added to the devotional celebration of the feast.
The importance of family living in the footsteps of Holy Family –was highlighted by Fr. Austin in his sermon. We may have all characters, beauty, wisdom, richness, glory but if we don’t live with fear (honour) of God then our life is not worth a penny. With the birth of Mary, love is born in our families and we should share this love with our parents/elders and children. Children should be guided to true Christian living with love, restriction, right directions to God fearing life. Let all see Christian families as examples of Happy Families.
All those who contributed to the feast were thanked, candles were distributed to donours, and new rice to all families. All were reminded to become nature friendly by taking care not to use plastic. There were more than 1500 devotees took part in the procession and well as in the mass.
After the Mass, Prizes were distributed to the winner of the games which was held on 2nd September 2012. Sugarcane and cake was distributed to all the parishioners.
Wish you all a very Happy Feast.
