Feast of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary.

Sept. 8. The Feast celebration started with the message and prayer at the Navjeeth Centre near Moodbidri city bus stand. The children and adults gathered with flowers.The Parish priest V. Rev. Fr Austin Peter Peres and Rev. Fr Onil D’Souza ,the Director of CODP, lead the prayers.

And thereafter the Procession was lead by the band, to the church.

Today’s intentions: To pray for all sponsors for the feast ( Pirjenths & Moddhoms) and all the committee members and who contributed for the celebration of the feast.

Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr Onil D’Souza the Director of CODP and concelebrated by Parish Priest V. Rev. Fr Austin Peter Peres.

The hymns, responses as well as the Mass readings were displayed on the LCD screen making very convenient to the large congregation to participate in the mass actively. It is for the first time in the history of Mangalore Diocese that LCD facility was used inside the church during the mass. Today it is completing one year.

The entire Mass was telecasted Live on the LCD Screen in the Portico of the Church.

The homily was preached by Rev.Fr Onil D’Souza the Director of CODP, Today’s celebration is a triple celebration- Birth of Virgin Mary, Family Unity and Thanksgiving to God for the food grain and fruits He provides for us.

Fr Onil D'Souza preached the sermon with the following message.

During this birthday season of Mother Mary we see all green and fields with ripening crop shoots even though a few months ago it was all dry and hot. It is God’s blessing and love to us.  When someone great comes we prepare a big Temple for him and for the coming of the Son of God, God prepared a great temple of love which is Mother Mary.  The coming of Mary was the beginning of the glorious time of our salvation with the coming of Jesus. 

From the day the angel declared unto Mary, she became the handmaid of the Lord and was with Jesus until he died on the cross. Then she became our mother as Jesus gave her to us.  So now we can proudly go to Jesus through Mary.  Thus celebration of the birth of Mary is actually the celebration of the coming of Jesus for salvation of mankind which is “Love of God for us.

During this feast when we celebrate eating the new crop, let us remember the hungry . In the world there are about 850 Million and in India 230 million hungry people. We cannot feed all of them but all of us can feed one or two in Jesus name and glorify the name of Jesus through Mary.  Even Jesus did not send the people away but fed the people through the apostles with his kindness.  Let us carry this message with us and be kind & helpful to others.

After the mass, the prizes for children winning the sports events conducted by YCS were distributed and the sponsors were honoured with candles.  The new corn was distributed to all through the parish council members.  The festive celebration ended wishing each other “ A Happy Monti Fest” and distribution of sugar canes.
