Update: Sep. 16, 2015 : Church cctv footage clearly shows the action. First the thief has used a sickle. Since it didn't work he has used a wooden log and has broken the door itself.
This is the second theft within a gap of 25 days. A second complaint is lodged .
Similar thefts have been reported from Niddodi, Alangar and Paladka in the past week.
Police investigation is in progress.
Sept 15, 2015 : The thief who broke open the might box inside the corpus Christi church was caught by Parish priest and handed over to Police.
On Tuesday,15th September the Parish priest Fr Austin Peres, while returning from Alangar, at around 2.15 pm, found a person coming out of the church.The person requested parish priest for money to go to Sakleshpur. Fr Peres gave him Rs 100. While the person was going out, Fr Austin Peres got a doubt and entered the church and found the might box which was at the Infant Jesus Statue was broke open.
By the time he came out, the person had left the church. Immediately, he went in search of that person by his vehicle. He found him near the Labour School. He caught him with the help of John and Robert who were at the spot.
On enquiry person accepted that he broke open the might box.
He was later handed over to Moodbidri Police.
