Corpus Christi Church Moodbidri Celebrates Assumption and Independence Day

On August 15, 2024, Corpus Christi Church in Moodbidri marked the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary alongside India’s 78th Independence Day. The day’s events commenced with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 AM, followed by the Holy Eucharistic Mass at 7:30 AM, presided over by Rev. Fr. Onil D’Souza. The Intercessory group led the liturgy during the Mass.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) youth conducted the flag-hoisting ceremony. The Corpus Christi Church band escorted the chief guests ex military officer Mr Lancy Menda including Rev. Fr. Onil D’Souza and ICYM President Vian D’Souza, to the flagpole. Ms. Anisha Noronha introduced the chief guest and expertly compered the ceremony.

After the flag was hoisted, the chief guest, ex military officer Mr Lancy Menda addressed the gathering, urging the youth to contribute actively to nation-building through their strength and support.

In a special moment during the event, parishioner Mr. Clarrisson Serrao was felicitated for successfully completing the CA examination, conducted by the institute of chartered accountants of India,a significant achievement.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of sweets, leaving the participants with a sense of patriotism and community spirit.
