On the occasion of Independence Day, the ICYM Moodbidri unit organized an Independence Day program on August 15th, 2023, at Corpus Christi Church Moodbidri. The event commenced after the holy mass at 8:30 AM.
The dignitaries present at the event were V. Rev. Fr. Onil D'Souza, the Parish Priest of Corpus Christi Church Moodbidri; Mr. Wilson Pinto, the Chief Guest; Mr. Vincent D'Souza, the Vice President of the Parish Council; Mrs. Celine D'Souza, the Coordinator of the 21 Commission; and Mr. Kevin D'Souza and Mr. Royston Pinto, the Animators of ICYM Moodbidri.
Ms. Lenisha Xavier and her team rendered the song "Vande Mataram." Ms. Jane Menezes extended a warm welcome to the gathering. Mr. Vian D'Souza gave the command, following which the Chief Guest, Mr. Wilson Pinto, hoisted the flag, and all attendees sang the national anthem. Ms. Josna Fernandes read the preamble of the Constitution.
In his address, Mr. Wilson Pinto particularly honored the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. He also offered prayers for them and their families, elucidating the advantages of enlisting in the military.
Subsequently, a prize distribution ceremony took place to honor the winners of the Online Singing Competition conducted by ICYM Moodbidri. The program concluded with the distribution of sweets to the parishioners. The program was compered by Ms. Jane Menezes.
