Second RCC house for the poor family by St. Vincent de Paul Society

April 4. : A newly built RCC house for the another poor family of Corpus Christi Church –Mrs. Cecelia was inaugurated and blessed on Sunday 3/4/2011 at 3.30 P.M. in the presence of Moodbidri Tahashildar – Mr. Murlidar, Ward Councillor Mrs. Prema Salian, Parish Priest V. Rev. Fr. Austin P. Peres, the site donor – Mendes brothers, Building Engineer Rajesh, SVP office bearers central & local and members of Pompei & Carmel Ward.

The house was inaugurated by Mr Joseph Martis popularly known as 'Monnam' -a Senior member of the SVP and the Parish Priest V. Rev. Fr. Austin P.Peres blessed the house.

After the blessing a gathering was organized to honour the dignitaries.  The dignitaries were presented with a rose, the tahashildar and Mendes brothers were garlanded. Mr. A.L. Vas briefed on the work of the SVP. The house cost was about 3.8 lakhs and was built on a 3 cent place donated by Mendes brothers near “Bogur gudde” within a short time of 4 months..

V. Rev. Fr. Austin P.Peres gave message of helping the poor by the streamlining principle as the SVP is doing. All of us together can help the needy and poor and follow Christ’s commandment of “Love thy neighbor”. Also this house is a monument for the remembrance of the 350th anniversary of SVP and the 40th anniversary of Corpus Christi SVP.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions held by SVP for 350th anniversary of SVP. Mrs. Agnes Saldanha gave vote of thanks. The function ended with snacks Tea and Coffee for all who attended the function. Mr. Andrew compered the function.
